미국의 코로나-19로 인한 외국인 입국 제한 유지 발표

솔직하게, 어려움을 토로하고 제약을 건다는 건, 상황을 충분히 해석한 분별력이 있고 결심을 이행할 힘이 있을 경우에만 가능하다.

"Under ordinary circumstances, properly administered temporary worker programs can provide benefits to the economy.  But under the extraordinary circumstances of the economic contraction resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak, certain nonimmigrant visa programs authorizing such employment pose an unusual threat to the employment of American workers."

"일반적인 상황에선, 외국 노동자 입국 제도는 국내 경제에 도움이 된다. 그러나 코로나-19 사태로 인해 극도로 침체된 경기 상황에선, 비이민 비자 프로그램을 통해 유입되는 외국인들의 고용이 미국 시민의 일자리에 위협이 되는 상황이 발생할 수 있다."

어쨌건, 미국이 외국인 유입을 막아온 가장 큰 이유가 코로나-19 방역 차원이라 생각한 건 상당한 착각이었다.
그들(마스크도 제대로 쓰지 않는 그들)이 정말 비중있게 걱정하는 건 미국 내 실업률(과 그로 인한 정부 지지율)이었다.
